Today, we woke up at camp with a bit of rain and mist rolling in over the Blue Ridge Mountains surrounding us. It was beautiful, but it did make the grounds at camp a little slippery and the weather a little gloomy, but that didn’t stop our Merri Mac girls from having a fabulous third day of activities here at camp! Breakfast included warm biscuits, potatoes, and some delicious scrambled eggs, and after the girls headed to chapel. In morning activities, kayaking was working hard on their T-rescues and paddling techniques, DIY worked on making their journals and painting with watercolors, and mountain biking was working on their braking and going down hills on their bikes.

At lunch, we had chicken sandwiches and waffle fries (a close second to Chick-fil-a sandwiches and their famous waffle fries I would say!) and celebrated a lot of birthdays! Laurence B. turned 17, Sally F. turned 10, and Caroline R. and Ann Marie S. turned 14. All of them got to share a delicious cake with their cabin.

After lunch, girls started to arrive back to camp after going on some out of camp trips. Little Dipper went on a hike, and this included Lauren B., Annabelle B., Whitney C., Lillian L., Ellie M., and Sophia V. Sundrop also went on a hike together to Black Balsam Knob, and this included Kate A., Grace F., Amelia D., Mary E.H., Camille S., Hailey S., Betsy V.C., and Ava W. Finally, a few girls got to go on the first rafting trip of 3B, including Eliza N., Lola E., Parish B., Flynn T., Lydia A., and Sarah R.

As the day moved on and the clouds rolled over camp, girls finished rest hour and went to their afternoon activities. Riflery and archery had plenty of opportunities to shoot today, PAWS took the puppies on a walk around camp, and cooking made homemade personal pizzas. Leighton from Tweedle Dee made a pizza and said “it’s a pizza shaped like a heart because it’s for my mom and I love her”! Girls in swimming worked hard today, and Elianna C., Karlin S., and Caroline M. earned their silver in swimming, along with Lucy G., Sienna H., and Anna M. earning their bronze. Maya K. also earned her gold, and only on the second day of activities! Congratulations girls! At dinner, girls ate mini barbeque sliders, roasted carrots, and cheesy potatoes with vanilla funfetti cake for dessert. The evening activity for tonight for lower camp is tribal Newcomb Ball, and upper camp is tribal BATTLE BALL!! The girls will wind down the night after with their cabins, closing out this exciting and perfect day of camp, and we can’t wait to see what tomorrow brings!
