Today started as any other day does at 7 AM, to the sound of the bugle. This morning all the campers heard from counselor, Hunter Willis, about who Jesus is and what he does for us everyday- He takes the blame for our mistakes.

We then got to sing and worship together before starting our adventures for the day. As you know, it’s always a merri-day at Merri-Mac, even if there is some rain. Heavy rain began half way through our day, but it didn’t stop us from having fun. Yoga practiced breathing methods and finding their identity in Christ. This time was relaxing and refreshing, with a great view. Cooking made some tasty mini donuts and grilled fruit. The outcome, from each class, was delicious. Good job, girls! Backpacking learned a few knots and skills for setting up tarps. Hopefully these skills can be used on trips soon! DIY Crafts made scrapbooks for camp memories. We have a lot of  girls here at camp who are gifted creatively. Gymnastics had many girls working toward and earning bars!

Throughout the day there were many bracelets being made out of rubber bands or string. Friendship bracelets are always a camp favorite activity with cabin friends. After dinner, the rain stopped just in time for the evening activity, counselor hunt! The counselors try to find their hide-out around the camp, just before the campers are set loose to search for them. The campers then bring their found-counselor to Lake Dorris to take a swim/dunk.

CITs are back! We had some extra helping hands all around camp today. Thanks to our CITs who have arrived back at Camp Merri-Mac from their week long backpacking trip in Pisgah National Forest developing their skills as potential staff!

Some fun trips went out today! The girls who went on the water ski trip were Julia Y., Ashton G., Clare O., Marley T., Taylor S., and Presley G. The kayak trip went out today with Margaret B., Catherine T., Molly G., Mary Richard E., Taylor S., Mary Clayton S., Lily B., Kathryn B., Arwen L., and Sarah Caulley S.

Camp Merri-Mac had a full day of fun and adventures.
