Dear Parents,

Today the world started all over again – at least at camp! We had a fantastic opening day and Ann and I especially enjoyed talking with so many of our parents as you checked your campers in. Seeing you guys as families makes getting to know your girls as campers even more special. We love that you share them with us.

After a year of planning we officially started today with a swim test, followed by fried chicken dinner and cabin songs.  It’s always fun to see the girls sing as part of their new cabin each year. The songs were a little rough this first time through, but they had heart, and in the next day or two they are going to have rhythm and tempo too :-). You can also feel the excitement building as they prepare to sing tribe songs tomorrow for the first time in a year.  But before they could think about that the girls met to elect their new tribal officers:

The officers this year are:

Seminole:

Chief: Caroline R.

Med Man: Ava T.

Brave: Bryce M.

Brave: Grace V.

Iroquois:

Chief: Kayleigh G.

Med Man: Susan Caroline B.

Brave: Carly L.

Brave: Lauren M.

Choctaw:

Chief: Anna Catherine M.

Med Man: Maddie D.

Brave: Maggie G.

Brave: Madigan E.

After dinner we went up the mountain for  initiation, and I have to say that I had the most fun I’ve had in years riding to the council ring with the barn staff. I’ll be sore tomorrow, but it was worth it to see new girls become part of their tribes.

I wanted to end by thanking you again for sharing your daughters with us; we have a great group of girls and we are proud of each of them. We also have some very exciting days lined up so we’ll keep you posted each day.

Great Camping!
