Another session begins! We had a fantastic opening day. Ann and I especially enjoyed talking with so many parents as you checked your girls in.
After a year of planning we officially started today with a swim test, followed by fried chicken dinner and cabin songs. It’s always fun to see the girls sing as part of their new cabin each year. Our intermediate camp girls had a special evening, debuting a new shared song. It is clear that those girls were excited to inaugurate a new tradition. You can also feel the excitement building as they prepare to sing tribe songs for tomorrow, after one whole year. But before they could think about that the girls elected their new tribal officers:
The officers this year are:
CHIEF: Gracie R.
MED MAN: Heather C.
BRAVE: Glory W.
BRAVE: Mae H.
CHIEF: Hailey F.
MED MAN: Virginia C.
BRAVE: Caroline M.
BRAVE: Libby M.
CHIEF: Kathryn G.
MED MAN: Caroline K.
BRAVE: Ashley Lauren J.
BRAVE: McKinley L.
After dinner we went up the mountain for initiation.
The new Merri-Mac Seminoles are: Fallin L., Julia M., Lucy C., Julia K., Ellie L., Savannah J., Harper L., and Wren P.
The new Merri-Mac Iroquois are: Scarlett I., Hayden C., Gabrielle W., Madison P., Katharine S., Sarah G., Addison B., Cate P., Callie S., Sydney C., Caroline S., Laurence B., Peyton S., and Ellet S.
The new Merri-Mac Choctaws are: Hill C., Evelyn R., Mary J., Katie R., Kate B., Lila K., Nora B., Madeline M., Anna A., Lawson B., and Peyton M.
Later several cabins were seen sneaking out with their staff for their own special cabin initiations. There are lots of girls becoming Merri-Mac insiders tonight – and that is what we love!
I wanted to end by thanking you again for sharing your daughters with us; we have a great group of girls and we are proud of each of them. We also have some very exciting days lined up so we’ll keep you posted each day.
