Campers buzzed with excitement at breakfast with the anticipation of the days’ grandeur. Tribefest had finally arrived. Campers braced themselves for a day full of friendly competition to earn points toward winning the banner. Tribe meetings commenced midmorning, and campers decked themselves out in red and gray for Choctaw, black and white for Iroquois, and blue and gold for the Seminoles. Spirits were high as Patti-O led the parade to the waterfront. Swimfest began with a splash as Olivia K. opened the meet with a win for Choctaw in intermediate butterfly. After several heats of butterfly, freestyle, backstroke, and breaststroke, the Iroquois reigned supreme.
Lunchtime rolled around followed by an afternoon of free time. Campers participated in activities such as volleyball, dodgeball, and Ultimate Frisbee. After dinner, tribes geared up for field day. The Dizzy Izzy Relay, Panty Hose Relay, Three-Legged Race, Stuff Your Face Relay, and the Pick-Me-Up Relay were just a few of the evening’s events. Tribal chants echoed through the mountains while girls fervently cheered their tribes to victory. After a day of intense tribal competition, the three tribes reunited in their cabins for an evening filled with fun and laughter. Tribefest 2012 was truly a success.
