Campers awoke to a special Christmas treat. “All I Want for Christmas” blasted from the truck that brought doughnuts and hot chocolate to the cabins full of excited campers. After enjoying breakfast and stockings, Christmas continued with a Christmas chapel where we were reminded of how when Jesus was born, the world was turned upside down and life was changed forever.

Happy girls skipped to their second period classes for more Christmas cheer. They participated in their classes just like any other day, but there was much Christmas spirit in the air. Campers and counselors dressed in Christmas sweaters, pajamas, and colors to show their Christmas cheer.

Rest hour refreshed the girls, so that they could continue with the Christmas festivities. Christmas day continued with fun at free time, fun in third period, and fun in fourth period.

In many classes, girls received Bronze, Silver and even Gold bars. A Bronze in Guitar was earned by Olivia W. , Wynne W., and Mary Grace B.,while Emily J. earned her bronze for the ukulele. In Volley Ball, many girls worked very hard to receive Bronze, Silver, and even Gold.  Alex K., Gracie T., Claire L., and Carley M. received Bronze bars, while Caroline B., Alex V., Kat O., Elizabeth C., Sarah L., and Kate T. earned silver. Chandler Y.was the first camper to receive gold in volley ball this summer! I would call that one cool Christmas gift! Climbers, Taylor M., Lindsey H., and Mae H., finished up routes and perfected knots in order to receive their bronze today.

Some girls had the opportunity to take trips to water ski and kayak. Mary Grace B., Elizabeth C. and Robyn N. kayaked the French Broad in glorious weather. Falon D. took two water skiing trips out to Lake James. In the morning, Meg M. Margaux S. Celia S. Madelynn C., Rachel H. and Mary Louise J. water skied, wake boarded, and knee boarded. Then the afternoon Grace B., Kristie G.,Emily J., Becca M., Anna M., and Isabel R. took their skills to the water.

Then back at camp, Christmas continued and more girls received their bars. In dance, the second period class worked together to earn bronze. Performers, Aynsley R. and Laura L., memorized lines and performed in their classes to earn bronze bars in Drama. Emma M. and Katherine B.worked hard in class and free time to perfect multiple dives and earn bronze bars in diving. In Gymnastics, Chandler Y.  flipped for a bronze bar, while in Tennis Katherine B. perfected her skills to receive a bronze as well.

More accomplishments were made in tennis and kayaking. Sarah W. won the rip your face off in tennis, while Robyn N. and Elizabeth C.  mastered their combo rolls in kayaking. Kayakers, Margret P. and Elizabeth W., accomplished their Rolls for the first time today and Mary Grace B. did a Back Deck Combat Roll.

As the day winds down, camp is celebrating Christmas with a party. “The Christmas Story” will be read and games will be enjoyed by all.

Santa and Mrs. Claus will visit camp to finish the day and spread more goodies and Christmas cheer to all of camp.

Merri Chrismas to All!
