Regardless
of how beneficial a program could be, it is worthless unless an effective
safety program is in place and implemented by knowledgeable counselors.
Dot constantly tells the staff, "until you have children of your own you
have no idea of the things that a child might do". Parents of six sons
themselves, Dot and Spencer are constantly in the activities with their
staff who are, themselves, highly skilled in the areas that they are teaching
and have developed an awareness of the necessity of a "safety first" attitude.
A well-equipped infirmary is staffed by two Registered nurses, and a large
percentage of the counselors hold first aid certification.
