IMAGE CAPTION - On the road again!

Good morning all you Merri-Mac girls!

Jen and Adam have both just returned from our first home showing trips and loved seeing so many camp families. There are too many pictures to show in one week, but Adam visited Alli and Jordan W., Max and Audra H., the Potts, Nick and Stephanie C., Leslie L., Meghan H., the Guardabassis, the Sheehee's and Jenna G. Jen got to see: Mary Grace B., Bailey C., the Davids, the Rubys, and Margaret S. Later Jen visited Caroline E., Isabelle and Macgregor R., and Shannon D. We also got to see lots of other Merri-Mac girls who joined us for visits and we hope you will also join us if we come to your town. If you would like us to visit your home just have your mom let us know.

Things We Hear:

Ashley from Big Dipper wrote to say: "After Merri-Mac, I went to Hawaii and 1 other camp. I like M-m BETTER! But then my cousin came over for 6 weeks, and I have just started 7th grade. Very Busy, definitely coming back next year...gotta get mom to sign me up again. Have a swim meet tomorrow, and am on the Adult Black class at Kung Fu.

ASHLEY in BIG DIPPER in CHOCTAW in TENNESSEE." Elizabeth S. says, "At school I joined a field hockey team and we visited Chapel Hill, and if JO you are reading this, we passed right near your home town. Man, I miss camp so much I just want to go back," and Anna N. wrote just to say hi. We'd love to hear from you too so drop us a line by clicking on the what's new link and dropping us an email.

From the Staff:

There's lots happening with staff signing up for next summer; we'll give a full list soon, but for now you should all know that Gibbs just signed back up. I'm also talking with Brooke B., so there should be some blasts from the past this summer!

Check back next week for more updates.

IMAGE CAPTION - On the road with Merri-Mac!

Camp is really busy these days!

One of the best things we get to do is meet with our contractors as we decide what building projects to begin this winter. The first has already started but you will have to wait a little while before we tell you what it is and show the pictures! The other exciting thing is that our first Florida trip starts Monday with meetings with Amelia Island with Kelsey J., Orlando with the Wingo's, Winter Haven with the Hewett's, Tarpon Springs with the Potts, Tampa with the Columbus's, Naples with the Loughran's, Sanible Island with the Sittons, Tampa again with the Hovels, Ft. Lauderdale with the Guardabassi's, Delray with the Sheehy's, Davey with the Guisto's, and finally Margate with the Palacios. We'll be planning lots of other trips too so just let us know if you would like to host one.

We've heard from lots of campers. Morgan S. and Joanna J., wrote in to say hi,

From the staff:

Lennon D. says: "Hey all you Merri-Mac girls! I hope everyone has had a wonderful start to their school year! Just think - each week at camp is just another week closer to us all being back at camp together again! I am extremely psyched to be going back to camp this summer as a junior counselor - wow that's so amazing for me to say. My senior year at school is fabulous, lots of hard work but still it's amazing. I miss you girls and cannot wait to see everyone again this summer! God bless for a wonderful year!" Also Mandi H. says she's thinking about coming back saying, " I will be starting to teach next fall as a teacher since I am graduating in the spring".Hope everything is going well. Heard camp was a blast this summer! Oh and just a little side note, Natalie Hall (now Harbin- got married in May) is pregnant! She's really excited and due in May. Just figured I'd pass the word on. Have a great weekend!"

There's lots of other news and lots of letters from campers and staff, but they'll have to wait until next week. Keep us posted on what you are up to by clicking on the what's new link and we'll try to include it in future Smokesignals.

Great Camping!

William Has Arrived!

IMAGE CAPTION - The newest Timberlake camper!

Camp Receives It's Earliest Early Enrollment!

William Singletary, all 6 lbs 1 oz of him, arrived on September 28th to claim his Timberlake early enrollment gift for the 2014 season. The Timberlake director, Will's father, was admittedly caught flat-footed, noting that he does not usually have gifts on hand quite so early. Dan later recovered saying that only returning campers are eligible for the early enrollment and he was not sure his boy was ready for his first pocket knife yet anyway. Seriously, there are a lot of exciting things happening at camp these days, but William's arrival trumps them all!

From the Staff:

Maggie T. writes, "So this semester is jam packed! Between going to class, going to my high school where I will student teach, bcm, and tutoring..there isn't that much time left! But even though its a lot of work I'm lovin' it. I do miss camp A LOT! I miss the girls, but I miss just being at camp, the actual place. Being outside, in the mountains..it's good for your soul! I hope all is well. I'm excited to hear about this new building project...I'm waiting in eager suspense!"

Becca S. writes, "Hi Ya'll! Man do I miss camp so much right now, so I figured I'd drop you a line and see how everything was holding up heading into fall. Life in the ATL is pretty sweet. I have a lot of hard work for my classes this year, so it's been demanding. But I also nailed an amazing part (lead understudy in Alice in Wonderland) for the fall play. So Everything is amazing minus not being at camp. Ah, I love you, and I can't wait for the new smokesignals! I would also like to clear up some of the confusion on the message boards...Seminoles are going to win the banner this year. That is a fact. I hope everyone is well (hi Adam, hi Ann!)" Hey to you, Becca!

Ann M. writes, "Dear Merri-Mac, thank you for letting me work for you over the summer! It's sort of a belated thank you, but I hope it will suffice. I also hope all the directors and other Merri-Mac superheroes are getting crunk and being all-around super, and that the general activities at camp are going fabulously! Much love, all-year staff. Anyhow, being a senior in high school rocks, but not as much as being an Iroquois. I'm getting ready for the world qualifiers in dance and writing application essays left and right. I have crazy multi-tasking abilities I never knew of. It's busy, so I'm enjoying myself muchly. Oh, and the house has never been cleaner. Happy Wednesday, as always."

From the campers:

Victoria R. writes, "Well, High school started so early, August 8th. I'm on homecoming committee and prom committee. I'm also in the Interact club. Basically the name says it all. We do different community service items in the community. Our homecoming theme is "A whole new world." You know, from Alladin. Prom is 007. For the homecoming game me and a few of my close friends are going to get all painted up with our colors, garnet and gold. They are also the Seminole's colors. I truly don't like FSU. I love you all and I hope to see you all this summer.

Gaby M. writes, "Hi, I will probably go next summer to camp and I just wanted to imform you. Bye!"

Kristy P. writes, "Hey y'all!! Holy cow, I miss camp like whoa!!! I hope everyone is enjoying their school year, and hopefully I will get to see y'all next summer!!!!! GO IROQUOIS!!!!"

Happy Camping!
