IMAGE CAPTION - Fun times at Merri-Mac!

Camp is full of building materials. We've poured footers for the slide (you can see Dan pointing to it in one of the pictures!) and canoe dock, begun work on the new riding ring, and sheet rock, wall paper and tile are on order for all the new projects. We're also putting the final touches on the staff and even beginning to make cabin assignments. It's beginning to look a lot like summer! Another sign is that Macky's Bulletin Board is brimming with activity as campers and staff begin talking about another Merri-Mac summer, but the most obvious sign is that camp directors all over America are busy taking vacations as an important part of their pre-camp preparations! We took an extra special one in celebration of our 15th wedding anniversary! The other couple in the picture is the old Merri-Mac canoeing instructor and the new Merri-Mac camp doctor.

From The Campers:

Cara H. and Brianna D. both wrote in to say hello and Charlotte W. wrote saying, "I am almost jumping up and down about Annie's news!!! Congratulations!! I hope everyone's spring breaks are awesome. I have been getting great reminders from people every couple of days about the camp countdown, about 100 days, right? My 16th birthday is on Saturday and I just went to Hawaii for spring break. Make sure ya'll IM me or something if you want to get some camp excitement out, I am always up for that!!" Lennon D. also wrote saying, "Hey to all of my Merri-Mac girls! I hope everyone is doing well! Things are busy as usual here in the small town of Stoneville. My spring break starts in a couple of weeks and I am hopefully going to be visiting some camp friends at UGA and in the Atlanta area - I can't believe that I am starting to look at colleges! I hope everyone is doing well and I am SO psyched for camp this summer! I can't wait to see everyone!" We're getting psyched too!

See you at camp!

IMAGE CAPTION - Black Mountain comes alive!

Dear Merri-Mac:

The countdown has begun and camp is coming to life. Dave R. and Anne A. spent a couple of days at camp during their Spring Break, and after an evening at our house making cookies with Mary Page they have decided to join the family by changing their names to Dave Sarah R.-Boyd, and Anne A.-Boyd. Vanessa is also here (she went climbing yesterday) and more staff are expected. We also got to spend a little time with Marilyn Z. Each of the visitors have been greeted with the best news of the year...there's a new Iroquois on the way because Annie S. is expecting! Of course this means that she will not be in the barn (you can only give so many legs up when your pregnant), so we're moving her to the Assist. Program Director Job. Patti-O gets all the good staff. We do not know if it will be a boy or girl yet so names are up in the air...any suggestions?

From the Campers:

Jennifer G. shared that her "U12 girl's indoor soccer team won our indoor tournament and my U14 coed team had an undefeated season in indoor. I have gotten all A's in school. I have done better than anyone in my flute section as my band teacher says and have learned to cook so many things in one of my classes." Becca S. adds, "Hi ya'll! I'm currently working on my camper packet. During school, shhh! And I'm getting super excited for camp this year; it's going to be so rad. I'm going into Science AND Drama magnets next year, working towards Med. School. I hope everyone is doing well!"

We'd also love to hear from you so drop us a line by clicking on the what's new link at the bottom of this article.

IMAGE CAPTION - Happy am I at Merri-Mac!

Dear Merri-Mac,

It is looking like an early spring at camp! We're making our last staff hires, putting together their packets and seeing a lot of construction projects come together. Today Bobby is beginning to replace the railing around the ring and paddock and electricians are working on sprucing up Patty-O's and Hostess offices.

From the Campers:

We've heard from a lot of campers recently with Anna S. writing, "I just got the camper packet! Yay! I am talking to Kendall right now. We are having an exciting conversation about camp. We can't wait!!" Rachel L. says, "Hey all you Merri-Mac girls!! I am looking forward to camp more than anyone!! I can't wait to be with my friends again this summer!!!! I have made my middle school softball team and that is going wonderful!! I plan to work hard at camp on my volleyball skills so I can make varsity next year when I am in 9th grade. I can't wait to be at camp again!! Finally, Kelsey W. shares, "Well first off I'm doing 3 sports at one time and 5 sports in all. My brother got second honors, and I am so proud of him and he is going to be my sponsor for confirmation and I hope to go to Notre Dame so I'm working towards that. You guys are awesome so thank you. I love you guys and can't wait to see u guys again."

From the Staff:

Our most recently hired staff is...drum roll...Dave! We're expecting her to be on the waterfront so be sure to sign up for swimming. Brittany wrote saying, "I was just thinking about camp and wanted to see how things were going in Black Mountain. Everything is great here in New Orleans! I'm back at school and we're renting a house here. It's awesome and we really are lucky to have found a place to stay. I actually just spent the weekend with Anne and Gibbs for Mardi Gras (p.s.: Gibbs was queen of a Mardi Gras parade!, if you didn't already know). I'm getting really excited about camp. PS: I just got my package form Sara Paxton and I can't thank you enough for thinking to send me the tribe jersey and Choctaw bear! I was so excited and it brightened my day! Thanks again!"

Finally, we'd love to hear what you are up to this spring so click on the What's New link below to drop us an email.

IMAGE CAPTION - friendships so true!

Dear Merri-Mac Girls,

The Camper Packets are being put on line today! It's like the Puxatoni Phil not seeing his shadow, a sure sign that summer is just around the corner. We're also hearing from a lot of campers and staff who are getting together for pre-camp reunions. UGA has been a hot spot for staff get togethers, but the most recent is New Orleans where Ann A. ran into Emily C. on the plane on her way to visit all the New Orleans girls. Ann also shared the pictures of Gibbs wearing her Mardi Gras crown. She is the Queen of her Parish, which makes a lot of sense to us! Note the Merri-Mac charm that she had added!

From the Campers:

Connie P. wrote to say she loves hearing from her camp friends, so drop her an email. Ann G. says, "I am beyond excited because I am coming back again this summer for FIVE WEEKS!!!! Jill can only come for three weeks but that's okay. I CAN'T WAIT to see everyone and everything!!!" Melinda R. shares, "Every day camp gets closer! I am so excited! This year has been great: I made the middle-school volleyball team and it's so much fun! I also want to say Congrats to Vanessa, miss you! I'm counting down the days until Camp! Finally, Grace R. is counting down the days. "I was looking at camp pictures from this summer and it made me miss camp so much more! This is going to be an amazing summer! Also, I have been given the chance to try out for the United States Rowing Development Camp!!! I hope that everyone is doing great and I can't wait to see everyone this summer!!!"

From The Staff:

Kate S. wanted to share a short note saying, "Becca and I took a drive around camp in the snow while on our way to Bristol for college visits. Adam, my hair is now one very natural color. And I'm getting ready to take the ACTs and SATs the first week of April. Wish me luck and see you this summer!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" Maggie's looking forward to another summer in Sunnyside. She shares, "Life is going pretty good here. Just trying to keep up with school work and my social life of course. I'm extremely excited that my friend Jennifer is joining us on staff! She is amazing! I'm going on a mission trip over spring break to Mississippi to do hurricane relief work. This is the 3rd trip for the BSU and my 2nd trip. I'm soo excited to go!! I love being able to help out. I hope all is well at wonderful Merri-Mac! Finally, Trace has had a big winter. " I just got married, and graduated! My husband Jay is now in Seminary and we are having lots of fun diving into what we believe as Christians. I miss camp so much. I can't wait to see it again! My heart beats for the taste of the Kingdom I received at Merri-Mac last summer... and I can't wait to find a full time position in youth leadership or mentoring! I miss everyone and pray you are all well."
