IMAGE CAPTION - good times at Merri-Mac

Dear Merri-Mac,

Our office is getting busier and busier as we begin preparing more and more for next summer. Some of our sessions are already full, and the staff is nearly so. In addition to the inside work there's also a lot of outside work. Bobby has prepared the site for the new slide, several cabins are getting a face lift, and we are about to start work on three new bathrooms. The new canoe dock is going to be another big project which should start on March 1.

From the Campers:

Tiffany writes, "I'm so excited this year for camp!! I'm going for 3 weeks!! I hope to see all of my friends and make new ones too. Well, I just can't wait for CHOCTAW to WIN THE BANNER!!! Oh, and this summer sometime after camp I'm moving to Tennessee. I am really excited and 6th grade has been GREAT." Jenna says, "I made the national Jr. Honor Society and I'm on the varsity girls basketball team at my school and we're going to state." Finally, Grace R. reports, "I'm on my varsity rowing squad now!!! I'm so excited that I get to go to Florida with them this spring, but not even close to how excited I am about camp this summer! It's going to be AMAZING!, and even that is an understatement!!! I hope that everyone is having an awesome 2006!!!"

News from the Staff:

It is clear that the staff is keeping busy with school work. Stephen has been to UGA twice now and has recruited a huge crop of girls that want to join staff ranks. In fact we've gotten so many applications that we cannot keep up with them.

Laura B. wrote to say, "I had an awesome Christmas. I had the opportunity to go to the Dominican Republic on a medical missions trip. It was AMAZING! I am getting so excited about camp and cannot wait for the summer."

Autumn B. writes, "I'm attending LSU next fall. I just found out and I'm very excited!"

Finally, pursuant with their New Year's resolution, Anne A. and Gibbs are still writing almost every day. I think they have too much time on their hands!

Great Camping!

IMAGE CAPTION - skiing at Merri-Mac, fun! fun! fun!

The new year is off to a wonderful start and we're starting to do more and more things to get ready for this summer. One of the most exciting things is that we're making plans to expand our water ski program and the first step was buying a new boat! We'll also move our program to Lake James, which should make our drive time less than half of what it was. Last year's program was a huge success and I hope everyone will be able to join us on the lake this year!

Jen and Dan are on their way to Florida, Mississippi and Louisiana to visit old campers and meet new ones. After that we are hoping to get back to Georgia and parts of NC for a few more meetings so let me know if you'd like to host a meeting in your home.

From the Campers:

From Berkley A.: Kendall and I are counting the days until we return. We are definitely ready for summer. Kendall is enjoying sixth grade along with a new sport, cheerleading! I am now starting to look at colleges (scary!) and am looking forward to the Sugar Bowl, Go Dawgs!

From The Staff:

From Autumn Breaux: Brittany H., Carlin C. and I are driving up to Oxford, Mississippi to attend Trace Thompson's wedding this weekend and it's going to be amazing!!

From Morgan Cogswell: I hope that everyone got the canoeing/kayaking gear they asked for this Christmas. I know I did! It's going to be a whole new exciting summer on Lake Doris... see you there in 6 months!

Big news on the staff end! Stephanie C. and Maggie T. both signed up for next summer and rumor has it that Carrie J. is considering coming too. Give her a call and talk her into it if you are able! We are also thrilled to announce that Bethan H. is returning to Merri-Mac as CIT Director!

Great Camping!

Adam and Ann

Happy New Year!

IMAGE CAPTION - We love hearing from you at Christmas!

2006 is going to be a year to remember at Merri-Mac! We have a huge number of last year's girls already enrolled and more and more are signing up every day. Just in the last week we've had 8 of last year's campers re-enroll. You should check to make sure that you are signed up to join them.

From the Campers:

We've received lots of Christmas cards and have enjoyed reading what you've been up to. Shannon D., Emily S. and Sarah L. each say they're already looking forward to next summer. Anne P. found a vintage 1950's MM charm that belonged to her grandmother, and Caroline D.'s mom shares that every summer Caroline "transforms into an Iroquois Indian, and rides horses, climbs mountains, lives in a creek..." Finally, Charlotte W. writes, "hey amazing girls!! I can't believe that it is almost 2006!! That means camp is getting very close. I think about you guys and camp all of the time and I just got back from visiting Nicole P. in Florida. I already had exams before Christmas break but good luck to everyone who has them after break!!"

From the Staff:

Katie R. made a quick visit over her break from NC State and Anne A. and Gibbs have made it their New Year's resolution to write me an email every day, so I have that going for me! Ann M. is our most recently hired KG and Maggie P. loves Ole Miss and compares her sorority to the Seminole Tribe. But the big news is...wait for it...Vanessa is engaged! It sounds like everyone has had a very busy holiday!

Great Camping!
