Ask any Merri-Mac "Old Girl" what sort of camp we are and their response is guaranteed to include the phrase, "we're a singing camp." We've been singing together for more than sixty years and our Chorus class is where we learn to do this well. Taught in our chapel by an experienced Chorus instructor our program is often a welcome break for the athletics of the rest of the day. Come sing with us at Merri-Mac!
I hoped my daughter would find a place where she was free to be herself. That’s exactly what Merri-Mac was! My first clue was the fact that she only wrote twice. Could she possibly be having too much fun to write? I knew that this was correct when I noticed silent tears on the plane ride home. She didn’t want to leave! Since then I’ve heard about Sun Spot, her counselors, night time raids and Seminole pride. She described camp food, diving lessons and how to hold a guitar, all with an air of confidence. My quiet girl is almost bubbly! I think the best indicator of how powerful her Merri-Mac experience was came tonight at dinner. As she was trying to explain how she felt about her time there she exclaimed that she just “belonged” at Merri-Mac. How ‘bout that? Neat, hug. Thanks, Adam. Thanks Merri-Mac and see you next year.
